Jim Webb became Cat Matthews' reluctant second husband. Paul Webb paired up with Gemma Craig, who continued to live with her well-meaning but increasingly meddlesome foster mother Fern. Doug's younger son and Marc's half-brother Justin Ryan Davenport provided comic relief as the local clown. He and Kelly Boulter had a romance that led to an unplanned pregnancy. Kelly went on to have the child, and the couple began living together.
